Celebrating Eliza’s Birthday February 17, 2009

Filed under: Updates — jjbacik @ 4:58 pm

Dear Family, Friends, and Prayer Warriors,

I am so sorry for such a great length of time between updates. I guess everything was going pretty well, thank you God, and I didn’t feel like there was very much changing news to fill you all in on. However, several of you have been asking for an update on Eliza, so here goes.

This week Friday, February 20th, Eliza will celebrate her very first birthday! WOW! It’s hard to believe that just a year ago we almost lost her before her life had even begun. Thank you Lord for such a wonderful answer to all our prayers! Eliza’s pediatrician recently told Kara and Jason that the reports from Eliza’s specialist Dr.’s always use the word “baffled”. They are always baffled by Eliza’s case. Kara just smiled while telling me the story, and said to Eliza that we all know that Jesus is the answer to their bafflement(is that a word)! :)

Eliza had a recent appointment with her pediatrician for a wellness check. She now weighs about 16 pounds and 10 oz. That isn’t a lot for a one year old. The pediatrician said that Eliza is on her own curve as far as weight goes because she isn’t even quite at the 5th percentile rank. If you will remember, that means that about 95% of other babies are bigger and weigh more then Eliza. The Dr. wasn’t concerned though, because she looks good and is also growing. She is in the 50th% range for her height. The Dr. was very happy with the way her lungs sounded, yet another praise to send up!

Eliza also had a gastrointestional check up this week. This is for her nutrition. This Dr. was happy too. Eliza sounded very clear, and that is a good thing. If you will remember, Eliza’s body didn’t handle fats well at birth, so the nutritionist is always concerned about feeding her too many fats in order to keep her lungs from becoming too wet. This would cause even more stress on her scarred lungs, cause wheezing, etc. Eliza has been on drugs for reflux. The good news is that they are taking her off one of them completely, and are planning to wean her off the other over time. Yippee and Yahoo! Praises, praises!!! Eliza will continue the same routine during the day with bottles and special formula until she reaches 18 months of age, but they can start reducing her night feeds that she still gets through a feeding tube and a pump. They don’t have any idea when the feeding tube can be removed. It really does come in handy with medicines, etc. Eliza can’t spit it out of the feeding tube! :) The sight around this tube can sometimes get really red, infected, etc, and the Dr. was impressed with how good Eliza’s looked. He was also OK with her weight. So that, of course, means we all are too. Lastly, they are able to start Eliza on a few foods that have fats(cheese and yogurt)! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The pulminoligist is responsible for her lung health. Well, really God is, but the Dr. is the physical person here on earth keeping a close eye on it all! He said she sounded really clear, and he was very happy. Kara actually had a discussion with the Dr. about stretching out Eliza’s visits. Together they decided she didn’t have to come back for 4 mo. This is very good and we feel very BLESSED that Eliza is doing so well. We have also been very BLESSED so far this season that Eliza hasn’t had any hospital stays. Eliza has had a few sniffles, but nothing too dangerous for her so far. The big concern is RSV which is really going around in our area. Eliza has been getting RSV immunizations over the past 6 mo. I think she has one more to get. Most of the time, Dr.’s order 4 shots, 1 per month. Eliza has to get 7 shots, 1 per month. These are very painful immunizations. The nurse said the shots burn the entire time during injection as well as a long while after. Eliza cries when she just see’s the nurse, but if the shots keep her out of the hospital, it is worth it. We are so very grateful that she has been good so far.

Physically, Eliza started crawling about 6 weeks ago. We were a bit concerned at first because the movement made her breathe heavily. Thank the Lord that her lungs adapted to the extra movement and she no longer breathes heavily while crawling. She did lose a bit of weight at first too, but that has leveled off now. She is almost pulling herself up to a standing position. I don’t think it will be long until she does. Eliza doesn’t seem to be behind mentally either. She is starting to make more vocal sounds, and is really starting to understand you when you talk to her. Of couse, she figured out a long time ago what she needed to do to wind us all around her fingertips. :) When she was born, I remember thinking that she must have a really feisty personality. We decided that a better term was determined for her. She never gives up working at whatever challenge lays in front of her. Once in a great while, we do see a bit of feistiness in her personality though. I think that is good. God has great plans for her some day, and that will help her, I am quite sure.

Our family is just so grateful for your prayers and Eliza’s good health. To look at her on the outside, you would never have guessed that a year ago she almost died. We never take Eliza’s health for granted though. We absolutely know that prayer works, and all feel that if it hadn’t been for all of the wonderful prayers from all of you, that Eliza would not be here with us celebrating her birthday. We ask for you to continue to lift up Eliza in your prayers. We ask for continued prayer that her lungs will keep growing healthier and stronger each day. We ask for continued prayer that Eliza will be able to eat any type of food (fats included) and it won’t make her leak or become wet again. We ask for your continued prayers for Eliza’s general health(no hospital stays). We ask for continued prayer for her physical and mental growth. She has had to face many challenges, and we pray that she isn’t behind developmentally for her age. Thank you so much, dear prayer warriors. Your continued interest and prayers mean the world to our family.

Thanks and Blesings

Fall Update October 16, 2008

Filed under: Updates — jjbacik @ 3:58 pm

Wow! where does time go?! It’s been a while since I’ve updated all of you and I figured that all of you are wondering how Eliza and her family are doing.

Eliza went in yesterday for several checkups. Her first stop was at the pediatric surgury dept. She had to have her new button tube checked. This tube is more flush with her skin with much less chance of being pulled out by Eliza. Ever since she found her toes several months ago, Eliza liked to play with that tube which hung pretty far out from her body. This new tube is working much better. She has a slight yeast infection around the sight. Kara and Jason were given a cream to put on for that, and it should get better soon. Other then that, they do not need to see Eliza again. Yippee and yahoo! Thank the Lord!

Eliza’s next stop was at her pulminoligist. Keep in mind, that when Eliza left the hospital, the Bacik’s were told that there would always be doubt about her x rays because of all the scar tissue, etc. They said that it always looks as if there is fluid on her chest. The group of physicians that Eliza sees all take turns doing rotations. Every time Eliza has gone she has seen a different person. This time was no exception. This Dr. was so happy to get to see her. Apparently she is still pretty famous there because her case is so unusual. He stated that he was the only one in his group who hadn’t seen her. Anyway, he listened to her chest and examined her and was so pleased with how she looked and sounded that he at first said maybe they could extend her next visit for 2 mo. He then went and checked her previous x ray from a month ago. When he came in, he stated that she has lots of fluid on her lungs, so they would need to see her in 1 mo. instead. Kara and Jason aren’t too concerned though because all previous pulminoligists have said the same thing. Since Eliza looks good and sounds good, that should be a sign that all of our prayers for her are being heard and answered in a positive way! Thank you Thank you! All in all, the Dr. was happy, so Kara and Jason were happy!

Her third stop was at the gastrointestinal Dr. who is in charge of Eliza’s nutrition. Eliza weighed 14lbs. I looked back at the last update a little over a month ago. She weighed 12lbs 14.5oz. So, she is gaining weight and looks very healthy. She is almost 8 mo. old so 14lbs. isn’t a lot for her age, but we’ll take it! Even though Eliza has very full cheeks, she is very tiny boned and just small. Eliza has started eating baby food as well as rice cereal so we are hoping the added calories will help. She is growing in length too, but still only wears 6 mo. size clothes. The Dr. determined that Eliza needs about 700 calories per day. When Eliza starts eating even more baby food to make up the calorie deficit, the Baciks will be able to cut down on her nighttime feeding routine. Right now she has to be on a pump for 12 hours to get in the amount of formula she needs each day. By morning, she is sooo full that she tends to throw up quite a bit. It will be nice if she doesn’t have to eat so much at night. She does suck her bottle during the day, but will only take about 3 oz. each feeding compared to other babies maybe taking 6-8 oz. each feeding. The Dr. stressed that Eliza should absolutely not have any fats. Previously, fats tended to make her lungs wet. When Kara asked the Dr. if she could ever have fats, his reply was that some adults that have her condition do handle fats and others don’t. That would mean that Eliza could never have meat, cheese, ice cream, etc. :( The Dr. thought it a good sign that when they combined Eliza’s formula to add some fat that she handled that really well. Kara was just grateful that there are adults who are living with this condition. Praises, praises!

Our family all think that Eliza is building up some of her own immunities. About a month ago, Eliza had an ear infection. The Bacik’s caught it early enough that she didn’t even get a fever, and the pediatrician put her on an antibiotic right away. She went back in for a check on that. She still has some fluid inside the ear, which will make her more susceptible to another infection. She also has been fighting a cold in her sinuses. I thought it a real blessing that it didn’t move down to her chest! Thank you Lord for her being able to fight this off!

ON a physical level Eliza is doing GREAT! She started sitting up on her own for a few minutes at at time, she is switching her grasp on toys from one hand to the other and can hold objects in both hands. I guess the biggy is that she started using consonant sounds along with vowels. She tries to say Brady with a bababa sound, and daddy like dadada. According to normal development she is ahead in this area! Halleluiah!

So, dear prayer warriors, we again ask continued prayer for Eliza. There is no doubt in our minds that God is the great physician who has healed her because of our continued prayers. The flu, cold, and RSV season is almost on us. She starts her shots for this soon. Please pray that she will handle those shots and they will help prevent illness over the winter. Please continue to pray that her lungs heal and grow stronger every day. Please pray that Eliza will continue to be able to handle all foods well whether or not they have fats in them. Please continue to pray that she continues to grow and gain weight. Please continue to pray that Eliza continues to develp like any other normal baby. So far she isn’t strong enough to pull herself up, or stand by herself. We ask that all developmental skills happen continually. Please continue to pray for the rest of her family too. It’s hard for them to judge whether Eliza may be doing something like cutting teeth when she is fussy, or wether there is something more serious going on. They need continued guidance and strength. Please pray that Eliza will continue to build up those important immunities.

We are so grateful to all of you for all the prayer and support that you continue to give to Eliza and her family. Without a doubt, everything would have been even more of a
struggle for our family without all of you and those prayers. If there is one thing our family has learned over all of this is that Gods grace is sufficient to get us through whatever our future holds. We just have to learn to trust in Him for everything. That is easier said then done, but with all of your support, it is so much easier. We are so grateful to our great Healer, the giver of every good and perfect thing.

Blessings

August Update September 3, 2008

Filed under: Updates — jjbacik @ 2:46 pm

Eliza is 61/2 months old, and has made several strides toward better health and improvement over the past month. We are so very grateful every day.:) She had another wellness check up with her pediatrician. Eliza is still in the 5% rank weight category, and has grown enough in height to qualify for the 10% rank in height. I told the Baciks that at least she was holding her own (she gained height, but hasn’t changed rank as far as weight goes). At least she hasn’t lost weight. She is very slowly gaining bit by bit. She weighed 12lbs and 14 1/2 oz. yesterday. Eliza’s body utilizes so many calories to breathe because she still takes short, shallow breaths. It is hard for her to keep ahead of the amount of calories that her body needs to grow with this happening. So, one thing we need prayer on for Eliza is that her lungs continue to heal and grow stronger every day.

Eliza’s nutritionist changed her formula to add in the kind of fats she needs for good brain development. They have combined the formula she is on with another formula that has more fats. The second formula was the first one they tried when Eliza was still in the hospital (previously made her lungs too wet). So far so good though as far as we can tell. They won’t know for sure until her pulmonologist orders x rays of her lungs again when they go back in Sept. At this time we can’t see any problems… Thanks Lord. She isn’t coughing or wheezing or anything like that. We continue to be optimistic. Eliza also started rice cereal a couple of weeks ago. She seems to be handling that just fine too. Her Nana Fortier wonders how she is doing it because the 2 formulas together sure don’t smell too appealing! :) I guess it is good in this case that Eliza has never tasted anything too good to eat! :)

Physically, Eliza is doing fine too. Yet another thing to send up praises for. Every time I see her she is doing something different. I was gone for a couple of weeks to visit my newest grandson in San Diego. I couldn’t believe the changes in her in that short time… She holds her head very steady all the time. She recognizes her name. She is continually rolling over (although she hasn’t figured out yet how to get back). She always has this surprised look on her face when she lands on her tummy! The big shocker for me was that when I waved bye bye to her, Eliza’s hand went up in the air. I guess she has been trying to do that the last week or so. I know that all babies do all of these things. I am just so grateful and happy when I see her being able to do them. YIPPEE and YAHOO…. thank you Jesus!!!

Kara and Jason are both teachers and have gone back to school. I guess Eliza’s big adjustment will be to get use to her sitters and not be afraid. I would have thought that she wouldn’t ever be afraid of strangers with as many people that have taken care of her in the past. However, she has shown some fear when Kara and Jason aren’t around. I’m sure they represent her security since she left the hospital. The Baciks have taken precautions for Eliza while she is with her very patient, kind, and caring babysitter. In order to prevent as many germs as possible, they have taken over Eliza’s own swing, boppy, blankets, etc. along with a can of Lysol to spray things down. Eliza can’t live in a bubble. Her body has to learn to build up immunities some how. The nurses at the hospital told the Bacik’s to treat Eliza like any healthy baby, so that is what they try to do.

So, my dear prayer warriors. Besides the prayer for Eliza’s lungs, we ask that you pray that she continues to grow and gain weight, and her body can handle the extra fats she needs, as well as the foods that they introduce to her body. Please continue to pray that physically, Eliza continues to improve and develop. Please pray for things to go well for Eliza at her babysitter, and pray for her sitter too. She has to have an extra measure of patience to handle everything well. Please pray for the whole Bacik family as they adjust to yet another new normal for them. Please pray that Eliza can build up her immune system and not catch any bugs during the upcoming season. Please continue to pray for her care givers. The Dr.’s just can never tell what or how Eliza will surprise them. Please pray that she will continue to be the miracle that she is and surprise us all in very good ways.(NO set Backs)

You have been our continual strength through the whole Eliza saga. We just can’t thank all of you enough who continue to remember Eliza and her family in your prayers. We truly felt Gods grace sufficiantly over these past months, mostly due to all of you. May you all be BLESSED abundantly.

Blessings

Good Health Update July 28, 2008

Filed under: Updates — jjbacik @ 9:24 am

I know I just sent an update a week or so ago, but Eliza had a check up this week, and I just had to share the good news with all of you. After all, if it weren’t for all of your prayers, Eliza probably wouldn’t be here. I figured you would all smile at the news.

Wednesday Eliza first met with the GI (gastrointestinal) Doctor. She seems to be doing just fine on the reflux drugs. He wants to not increase or change the dose of Eliza’s meds. He said as she grows, she will also outgrow the amount of medicine. If he keeps the amount the same, he will be able to tell from that how Eliza does. It will be so wonderful if she get off of some of her meds. We thank the Lord daily for how well Eliza is responding to being home and also how she responds to her drugs.

Then Eliza went to see her pulmonologist. He came in and said something like this, “let’s look at the facts. Eliza is gaining weight, she is not wheezing, she isn’t coughing, and since her last visit her Heart rate has gone down, and so has her respiration rate! ” Halleluiah and Hot Dog! Now, we can’t get too excited because Eliza still breathes short and shallow. However, what a good report from her lung Doctor. The Doctor. even decided to lower the amount of drugs that Eliza is getting in her breathing treatments 2x per day. No one will ever tell me that PRAYER doesn’t work. We have seen miracles over and over again where Eliza is concerned. I almost forgot… the Dr. also said that IF Eliza has any wetness on her lungs right now it is very, very, very, very little. I made sure I counted the verys when Kara told me the story! :)

The pulmonologist is also in charge of Eliza’s nutrition. They have decided to put some essential fats into Eliza’s feeding tube. If you remember, too much fat makes her lungs wet and she coughs. Eliza needs those fats not only for good brain development, but hair, skin, nails and other activities in her body. They are planning to give Eliza just the amount she needs for healthy development, but not too much to make her wet again. It could be tricky, but Kara and Jason are feeling much better about Eliza getting what she needs.

Anyway, right now, Eliza is doing great and seems to be continuing in an upward journey to good health. We are so grateful. We have a long winter ahead of us though, and a long rsv, cold, flue, bronchiolitis, etc season. The Dr. is still very concerned about her lungs and how she will handle any bugs out there. So, we ask you to continue to keep Eliza in your prayers.

Please continue to pray that Eliza’s lungs get stronger and healthier each day. Please continue to pray for Eliza’s physical development, as well as her mental development. Please continue to pray that Eliza outgrows her reflux. Please continue to pray that Eliza has a circle of protection around her from the soon to be coming “sick” season. Please continue to pray for her caregivers. I wish I could read their minds and see how astonished they are as they see Eliza grow and prosper. They are so pleased and really need help in deciding the best course of treatment for Eliza. Also, please continue to pray for her family as they continue to adjust to a new normal for their lives. School will be starting soon, and Kara and Jason both will be going back to work. This will take some more adjusting on all their parts.

You are all such a blessing to all of us. The light and love of Jesus that you show to our family is incredible. We would be so lost without all of you continuing to pray for our entire family. Once again, thank you isn’t enough, but it’s all we can say over and over again.

Blessings

July Update July 16, 2008

Filed under: Updates — jjbacik @ 11:43 pm

I realized that so many of you are continuing your prayers for Eliza (thank you), and that perhaps I should send another update on her condition. Eliza is doing pretty well, and has adapted very well to her home life.

Eliza met with her therapist 2 weeks ago for the fist time. She stated at the time that she thought Eliza was only behind in her development by about 6 weeks. Her big concern was that Eliza needed to unclasp her hands so tightly, and learn to feel textures of all kinds and also hold rattles, etc. If you look at pictures of Eliza while she was in the hospital, she always had her hands clasped. I told Kara that it seemed to me that she clasped them so tightly because of her pain. Eliza must have a pretty huge pain tolerance built up! Anyway, she is doing much better at that already. I noticed last week one day that she was already batting at the hanging toys in front of her. The therapist met with Eliza again just yesterday, and stated that she thought Eliza was a lot stronger then even 2 weeks ago! Thank you Lord!

Eliza is growing slowly but steadily! Yippee and yahoo! She weighs 11#14oz. as of today(still not a lot for an almost 5 mo. old). She still swims in most of her 0-3 mo. size clothes, but Kara and Jason were rejoicing the other day when her one sleeper was too small! Thank you again Lord! She is smiling and cooing and is just alert. She doesn’t want to miss out on anything, and usually lets them know if they leave her in a room for even a few minutes by herself.. Remember at the hospital she had someone in her room continually! :)

Eliza is nippling from the bottle very well. However, she will still have the feeding tube for a long time. They still want Eliza to eat more then she can, so they still supplement into the tube at night. One concern in the back of the Baciks minds is Eliza’s brain development. Apparently, the type of formula that Eliza has to have has medium chain fats, and the nutritionist wants her to have long chain fats for best brain development. Eliza shows no signs of any problems whatsoever. I can understand their concerns for her future learning processes. However, I did remind them that for hundreds of years before her, we all grew up just fine without worrying about long chain fats! :)

The biggest and best event in Eliza’s life took place on June 29th when she was baptized. There were many times that we thought about baptizing her in the hospital. Kara and Jason just felt that she needed to be baptized in church with all of our church family present. They have been very instrumental with prayers, cares, concerns, finances and you name it. Our church family has lived this nightmare with us, and we are so grateful for their support as well as all of yours. It was just a joyful day for our family as well as our church family. I was told by several members that they didn’t think there was a dry eye in the house that day! Thank you for this great opportunity for all of us Lord to be able to share such a huge event!

The Baciks were able to bring Eliza up to our lake cottage over the 4th of July! What fun it was to take her out on the pontoon and to be able to participate in all of the outdoor celebrations. The weather was wonderful with very little humidity. However, we do know that Eliza has a bit of trouble with her lungs on hot, humid days. She still breaths short shallow breaths, and on those days seems to breathe even faster and shorter. We continue to ask you to pray for her lungs to grow healthy and strong.

One other concern for Eliza is the thrush in her mouth. Thrush is a fungus that causes sores in the mouth. Nicole told us that some babies with thrush can’t even feed because their mouthes are so sore. Yet another sign of Eliza’s high pain tolerance. Anyway, Eliza is going back to the pediatrician today because she has already been on two treatments of antibiotics for it, and it is still there.

Eliza was behind on her immunizations and has been catching up on them. The other day she had 5 or 6 shots all at once. Kara said she cryed for a bit, but as soon as they picked her up she was fine. Eliza has a good personality and usually doesn’t cry for very long anyway, but a lot of babies cry for a long period after getting those shots.

The entire Bacik family are still adjusting to a new normal. It is very hard when you have had such a sick baby. Eliza is a really good natured young lady. She usually only fusses when she is tired or hungry. However, when she does have a fussy spell, they never know if it is a normal fussy baby thing like cutting teeth, or if it is something to be concerned about. There is always a doubt in the back of their minds. I can understand why. Otherwise, they try and remember that the nurses orders when they left the hospital were to treat Eliza like any healthy baby. They are trying to do that as much as possible. Brady still loves his little sis, and I’m sure will eventually become pretty protective of her.

Once again we thank you for your continued prayers for Eliza. Please pray that her lungs grow stronger and healthy. Please continue to pray for her healthy growth and development physically and mentally. Please pray that they can figure out how to get rid of the thrush. Please pray that Eliza continues to eat and feed well. Please continue to pray for her family. Please pray that they can let go of so much concern, and just know in their hearts that everything will be ok. Please pray that they will find ways to adapt to all the changes this has made in their lives. Please continue to pray for her caregivers too. They still are always unsure of what is in Eliza’s future.

Life is fragile and can change in a blink of an eye for anyone. I don’t know where we would be in this world without our Christian family to help us get through this. May God continue to Bless all of you mightily. You can’t even begin to imagine how you have all Blessed our family. We are so grateful for each of you.

Blessings

2 weeks June 25, 2008

Filed under: Updates — jjbacik @ 10:00 am

Eliza was sent home 2 weeks ago from the hospital with an official diagnosis of Pulminary Lymphangiectasia. This was the even more rare of the 2 things they were thinking might be causing Eliza’s problems. I’ll never forget when Eliza was about 5 days old. Kara and I went up to Eliza’s room and met with one of her Dr’s for the first time. It was horrible to hear him say that if it was Lymphangiectasia that basically there was no hope. It was so devastating. We new then and there that our hope was in God, and whatever the outcome, it was all in His hands. So, dear prayer warriors, that’s where all of you and our daily prayers came in! Now, here she is, alive, and doing well, and HOME! God does hear and answer our prayers in His time. We are so very grateful to Him that He has allowed Eliza to be healed thus far.

Eliza is still at a very fragile state with her health and probably will be for several years to come. It seems that all the Dr.’s she see same the same thing. They just cannot predict her final outcome or what the future holds for her health. None of us have that opportunity. We just take it for granted that day to day, our health and well being will continue. In Eliza’s case, we just don’t take any of it for granted. At this time, Eliza seems to be doing quite well.

She has been very busy since she has been home. She met with her new pediatrician. She will be her primary care physician for check ups, etc. Eliza is only in the 5th percentile rank for her height and weight. For those of who don’t know what that means, there are 95 percent other babies who are well ahead of Eliza in height and weight. However, the Dr. stated that although she is very small, she seems to be pretty healthy other then the shape of her lungs. Eliza is nippling(feeding from the bottle) pretty well. Thank you Lord. She is taking the amount from the bottle during the day time that they want her to, and she has a feeding tube in her stomach for them to put her medications in as well as additional formula during the night while she is sleeping. The advantage to this is that she is for sure getting the right doses of meds(doesn’t spit them out by mouth), as well as she sleeps through the night because she doesn’t get hungry! :) The disadvantage to Eliza is the feeding tube itself.

Eliza’s body wants to reject this foreign object. Basically what happens is around the tube area, Eliza’s skin gets granulation tissue. This is raised tissue to help the body get rid of it. So, consequently, Eliza’s surgeon had to caldarize(burn) the skin around it. Ouchy! Eliza didn’t like that as you can imagine. She is definitely going to have a high pain tolerance when this is all said and done!

Eliza also had a visit with her pulminoligist. He hadn’t seen her before, but her case is so unique that she is famous at the hospital. He mentioned that he had already heard all about her! He said that right now Eliza looks good and sounds good, but we just can’t know what will happen in her future. Her lungs are weak and pretty fragile from all that she has been through. He mentioned that if she even gets a cold, that they need to immediately get her in to see him. He is trying to see if she can get an immunity shot for RSV( a serious virus that is even hard on healthy kids lungs). He said “Lets just get her through the winter, and hopefully the following winter she’ll be bigger and stronger.”

It is impossible to let her live in a bubble. She also has to be exposed somewhat so she can build up immunities. The problem here is finding a happy medium. The Bacik family are busy finding a new normal for them. They are all adapting to their new life together. Big brother Brady, absolutely LOVES his Eliza. I think he is going to be a very protective big brother. Mom and dad are enjoying having both of their children together. It’s such a blessing for them to be all together after such a long separation.

There are so many people in this world who need our prayers. We all have a tendency to move on to pray for others after things are on an upswing with the person we have been praying for. Our family understands that well. However, we ask that you will continue to pray for Eliza. Although she is home and doing well, she still has serious conditions which could land her right back into the hospital or worse. Please pray that Eliza’s lungs heal and grow stronger every day. Please pray that she has a circle of protection around her from any virus out there that may try to attack her, and she builds up immunities that she needs. Please pray that Eliza will continue to grow and catch up with other kids her age(both height, weight, and physical abilities). Please continue to pray that her body does not reject that feeding tube(she will have to have this for a long time). Please continue to pray for her health care providers. They continue to need wisdom for Eliza’s case. Please continue to pray for Eliza’s family. Life isn’t the same as it would be if she was healthy.

We are so very thankful for all of you and your prayers. We know that if it were not for them, Eliza would probably not be here on this earth with us. We also know that we have not had to walk this journey alone, and literally know that because of those prayers we continue to feel the peace and grace of God. Our prayer for you is that you are all Blessed mightily because you have blessed us! Thank you thank you thank you.

Blessings
